Beginnings are exciting!
We are excited to build a community of citizen’s who are interested in the truth around local government policies , how they will affect their lives, and their pocketbooks.
C.O.A.P. inc. is a citizen-led group who will hold local governments, all across the Valley, accountable for their governing, and spending of our tax dollars.
We decided to launch a Substack as it is a user friendly platform that you can receive information to your inbox, when you may forget to check for updates on our web-site.
Many people are too busy to listen to hours of council meetings, comb through hundreds of pages of Official Community Plans, or write our councils and area directors… let us do this for you!
We have noticed that policies all seem to run through local stakeholder groups, who hold a lot of persuasive power, and who all tend to lean ‘one way’. Where is the opposition in local government and from stakeholder groups? We intend to create a large enough member base, that we too can speak to local governments as a group that represents hundreds, if not thousands, of Valley members from Ladysmith to Mill Bay, who want an and actual opposition group to be heard.
All over the world we see local community governments stepping in-line with the same community plans as each other, and we feel these are not unique to the areas, and are part of many global plans which include meeting the U.N Sustainable Development Goals, creating Smart Cities, buying into carbon pricing and collection, and soooo much more. We are being led down a poverty-creating path all in the name of “settled science” . At C.O.A.P. Inc. we will challenge the ‘science’, as well as challenge initiatives that are being implemented in our communities that do not serve our families, children, to maintain our rural lifestyle, nor our ability to sustain income generating businesses.
Here are some topics we will be writing on, investigating, holding local government accountable to :
Climate Action Energy Fund - A huge tax payer money pit
N.C. Forest Reserve - currently being sold as a Carbon Credit scheme, witch will cost Tx Payers $5000,000 a year, all in the hopes that carbon credits would start to pay off in 30-50 years.
CVRD OCP - we have been at all the meetings, and keep challenging their vague language that includes such topics and wording as; “ smart grid”, “green-farming”, “walkable neighbourhoods”, “ Growth Containment Boundries”, “reduce wood stove usage”, and so on.
The so-called “Climate Crises” all four governments proclaimed in 2019 after being pressured by a local group of citizens, from which now ALL policy must first go through the lens of.
( Our first “Climate - Is the Science Settled” Townhall to be announced soon - Keep March 11th 11-1pm free)
Builders ability to build outside the UCB/GCB - We do not want crammed-in little 15 min cities, while mom and pop can not place a second dwelling on their 2 acres ( for example)
Any and all forms of surveillance that seems to go hand in hand with 15 min cities.
The increasing crime and drug abuse rate that increases the more facilities that are not rehab get erected.
To their election promises
5G and all infrastructure meant to be used to geo-fence, surveil, and track citizen’s movements, purchases, and lifestyle preferences.
WE HAVE MORE, BUT IN THE INTEREST OF KEEPING THIS WITHIN A FEW MIN READ ….
Our Projects, and up-coming actions :
We have Four FOIA requests waiting to send asking for the science and discussion had behind the declaration of a “climate crises” back in 2019 ( pending funds to submit)
Website created with content uploaded to Substack and website ( slowly but surely )
A Series of Townhalls ( first one march 11th - poster will be sent out)
One official letter sent to Ladysmith, Duncan, and North Cowichan Council, as well as to all area directors asking for the science they were produced with to claim a “climate crises” - not one reply, hens the need to FOIA them all now
So exciting - We want to launch our own newspaper ! We have the full business plan, and are now asking for advertisers to launch the first edition !
Producing small ‘edible’ clips from council meetings to show YOU what is said that might be pertinent to your life and living.
ONCE AGAIN, IN THE INTERST OF TIME ….WE WILL FILL YOU IN MORE LATER..
FINALLY………. !
What we humbly ask :
In order for us to do this semi-fulltime and pay for things like FOIAs and hall rentals, we will have to generate many revenue streams, some of which are still to come.
In order to become a viable stakeholder first and foremost we need members! Please sign up to the Substack, think about taking out a paid subscription, no matter what the amount, or consider making a one time or monthly donation on our website under “donate”. Every few dollars helps.
Donations at our events.
Consider becoming an angel investor in C.O.A.P Inc’s new project - and 8 page newspaper to rival any others currently available in our valley - Westward Independent.
