Hello folks,
Tomorrow’s meeting has many has many points we pointed out in our previous Substack, from families asking to keep their secondary housing for their children, to builders dealing with North Cowichan.
Westward Independent has interviewed this builder and will bring forward more that he has done to meet NC demands in our next paper, but for now, this was sent to us to share . He bought the land before the OCP was put into action, and they decided to draw an arbitrary line that removed his property from the ‘growth containment boundry’, leaving him with land that he can not build on.
If you feel that you agree with helping this family, feel free to write council@northcowichan.ca
Hello friends and supporters.
We appreciate many of you who signed our GoPetition a few years ago in support of not changing the Urban Containment Boundary and keeping our Bell McKinnon Award Winning Local Area plan as the public helped put together through the many town hall meetings.
Our Council decided not to listen to our 300 signatures and reduced the size of the boundary thus pushing us out.
We had our re-zoning development application in for 2 years waiting their approval and they never grandfathered our application after they made the change.
Our West Vista Terrace project is beside the new 1.4 Billion Dollar hospital in North Cowichan and will go in front of council on Wednesday and we would like your support to push this thru.
We asking for you to send a short email to council at council@northcowichan.ca in support of our project or phone in during the council meeting March 6 starting at 5 o’clock 1-844-426-4405 and you will have 3 minutes to let council know we need housing and Jobs.
Once approved West Vista Terrace will:
- Keep North Cowichan taxes down by generating 60 Million dollars in tax revenue over the next 25 years.
- Provide over 800 much needed Homes and commercial space including a hotel.
- Create jobs - we have joined forces with Ravenstone Construction an Indigenous company that lost out on the Hospital contract because they were not with the union.
- A walkable, sustainable, safe neighbourhood within a five minute walk to the new Hospital.
If you know anyone else that would like to see their kids, parents or friends be able to have clean accommodations and to afford to stay in our community please forward this email to them to invite them to simply e mail council@northcowichan.ca and say we support the West Vista Terrace development or show up at he meeting and you will have 3 minutes to speak. Must be there before 4:50 to sign in.
Thank you for your continued support and help in building North Cowichan’s Newest Community - West Vista Terrace.
