Lake Cowichan is looking for ‘thoughts’ on their OCP and the future.
It seems the Town of Lake Cowichan is looking to update its OCP, however, there is no indication of what these updates may be on its website and confirmed with staff via a quick call to the hall that there is not a draft of these proposed changes.
According to the OCP signed into bylaw in 2019, Lake Cowichan looks to have an increase of less than 800 people by 2041. Like other municipalities, Lake Cowichan had grandiose plans to somehow impact climate change through changes to citizen’s lives. For instance, they propose that only 25 % of use people single vehicles, even though currently approx. 80% of residents commute to work. Or goals such as energy usage from homes is meant to drop by 50%, because the 4000 residents living within a tiny growth centre surrounded by hectares of forest and wetlands, will change the climate through drastic sacrifices by the residents ( of whom they propose will be mostly 75+ in age).
Another cut-and-paste ‘local’ plan that reads almost the same as every other municipality in Canada.
See you there!
Sincerely,
Team COAP
