After a FB post went viral regarding the ability to keep hens in North Cowichan, we have reached out to some council members asking that they bring forward a motion to change the current Bylaw ( that is not currently being enforced, but is still on the books). We also hope the amendment will include other fowl such as ducks (many people love their ducks and duck eggs), quail, and the like.
(More details on the bylaw in the petition link)
Please help us ensure more food security in the valley by signing the petition below. You may not have hens, but many people also enjoy purchasing eggs from roadside stands, or from their Neighbours, for health and quality reasons.
The petition will be presented to council. Currently there are no council meetings for the public in July.
