Dear COAP members,
Happy long weekend !
We have not sent out an update in a little while as we were busy helping organize and host another Town Hall this past Sunday, and we just sent our second edition of Westward Independent to print today!
The Town Hall was a total success, filled to capacity with CVRD land owners, and farmers. The event was opened by a slideshow presented by COAP that will be available in the future with the audio to share with others who may not have been able to attend.
Many Thanks to all who helped make this Town Hall a success : Ruth, Dave, Twyla, and all the others who jumped in to help us set up and clean up at the end.
Our second edition of The Westward Independent has now gone to print and should be arriving next Wednesday. Thank you to our proof readers, and all that helped distribute the last edition. We have been met with very kind reception when we deliver these, and we feel the community is quite happy to see an alternative voice in the valley. ( You can view our previous edition on our website) . We have been able to print this edition from a couple generous donations, and a few ads, so if you would like to help keep this newspaper going, please pass along our contact to any businesses you may feel would like to advertise in our paper : sales@wwind.ca, or make a donation to this cause.
Next edition will contain articles on :
The Cow Bay Estuary Project and its harm to farmland.
The CVRD Agriculture plan and the problematic phrases contained within the document.
Going all electric - is that a poverty plan?
NC Violating UNDRIP with their electric car purchases?
Our natural health supplements being threatened by the Feds.
What is really going on on Canada Ave?
And so much more…… !

We have uploaded our first visit to council in support of the bylaw to stop open drug use, and appreciate all those who also sent in letters to council. We attended again when it came up for debate. The initial motion did not pass, but apparently they have more plans in the works according to the Mayor. Please continue to write letters as they are listening .
This group is growing fast, and we appreciate all those who have passed our website along to friends and family!
Have a wonderful weekend folks!
