Last week council was putting forward a letter to be considered, so, of course we looked into who wrote it, and what it was proposing.
Chair of the Climate Caucus! You don’t say … well, the same Climate Caucus that seems to be pretty tight with our local council, especially during the creation of the OCP for North Cowichan.

Other ways they will force you into this program, besides demanding current houses be upgraded, will be to get you when you attempt to sell your home : “However, local governments have no authority to require home energy labelling for existing homes. In the 2018 CleanBC Plan, the Government of British Columbia committed to exploring an energy rating requirement for homes and buildings across the province at the point of sale or lease.”
Quote from speech and reference : “This policy would allow a property owner to more easily finance the up-front cost of building energy efficiency upgrades, such as a more efficient heating system or windows, by paying the costs back over time through a voluntary property tax assessment.
